music city roundup

So I realize I've been dragging out this Nashville thing, but it's actually good that I have so many photos to share with you, or I really wouldn't have anything to post.  It's been one of those weeks that seem like an eternity, and I haven't had a second to plan or take photos for blog posts!  Hopefully life will chill out a bit more next week.

Enough about that, here's a roundup of my trip to Tennessee, and some of the absolute highlights from my trip.  Of course the Andy Warhol exhibit at the Frist was a highlight, but alas, no photography allowed there so you'll just have to see that for yourself!

Trying to decide what to eat at the Farmers Market
View from Bicentennial Park
Around Germantown and a visit to Monell's.
Definite trip highlight!  Lovely evening of cocktails and conversation with Rachel of Mousevox Vintage.
Gourmet popsicles at Las Paletas.  I had banana-chocolate!
Mom-made Mojitos back at the apartment.  My favorite!
Night view from my bedroom.
Looking at these pictures makes me want to go back there so bad!  I really had an awesome time and will definitely be traveling back again someday.  Have you guys been on any memorable trips this summer?

Happy Friday lovebugs!

visiting 12 south

thrifted headscarf o thrifted top o h&m shorts o thrifted purse o my sister's boots o antique skeleton key from France

I still have lots of photos from Nashville, but I thought I'd break to share one of the outfits I put together for the blistering heat.  I tried wearing my scarf as a turban for the first time using this great tutorial from Strawberry Moth.  I think I'm hooked!

Rachel recommended I check out the 12 South neighborhood, and I was so glad I did!  It is a really neat part of the city, and has a few cool vintage shops, boutiques, restaurants and cafés.  There was also an awesome music store with the nicest staff.  They let Dad and I play their fancy guitars, and my sister and I jammed on the shiny red keyboards.  I always try to find a piano to play when I'm on vacation, because otherwise I miss it too much!

morning at the nashville farmers' market

I really had a marvelous time in Nashville!  I have never visited Tennessee, and although I wasn't quite prepared for the smoldering heat, I loved practically everything else about it (+ the weather wasn't really that unbearable).

The first morning I was there, we ventured down to the Nashville Farmers' Market.  One of the first things I do upon waking up in a new city, is find out where they hold their local market/s.  Visting them is a great way to check out the local produce, + you can interact with locals who are normally more than willing to offer tips and guidance about visiting their hometown.   Nashville's market is open everyday and is located in Bicentennial Park.  There's two long shed-like buildings that house all the vendors selling everything from vegetables and fruits, to jams and flowers.  Attached to the produce side, is a large "Market House" that holds all kinds of permanent restaurants and cafes- sort of like a glorified food court-- I had a killer gyro there.  Apparently there's also a flea market on the weekends, but I'll have to save that for next time!

More Nashville photos to come!

Hello friends!  I'm dropping in to let you know that I'm packing up and heading off to Nashville, Tennessee.  After hemming and hawing over what to bring down South, my black duffle bag is finally sitting by my desk ready to go.  I'm relaxing on my bed listening to that quintessential Parisian music (the kind the old men play on their accordions outside of the cafés) and I feel so accomplished I may just reward myself with some chocolate ice cream.

I'll see you when I get back from the Music City, and I'm sure I'll have some photos in tow.  Enjoy the rest of your week!
